Building a Chicken Coop - Part 3

So the coop is built and painted with our "old red barn" motif.  The paint will help the coop weather the weather.  May as well make sure it looks nice at the same time.

It's time to make sure the rain doesn't get inside.  For this coop I choose a piece of leftover tin I had that is copper colored.  I saved this from when we built the house.  I used some roofing screws and just screwed it down.  The lid is decently heavy and it is fitted to the box so I'm not concerned about it blowing off.

The last thing to do was add a ramp so the chickens could get into the coop easily.  This one is made from scrap treated lumber so I hope it lasts a long time.

That's the coop in a nutshell (eggshell?).  Next I'll show the watering system and the feeding system.  Watering, feeding, and egg collecting all happens from outside the fence which is a nice feature that keep chicken poop from between my toes.
