Garden Report 06/27/2014

Went out this morning and picked a huge pan full of goodies.  Mostly squash and cucumbers but had some peppers and a big mess of green beans as well.  My loyal helper dug right in and we got the job done.

After a fun day of pottery painting and swimming we came home to relax.  Mandi made some fauxtato soup and roasted the green beans.  They were great with a little homemade dip.

So what do you do when life gives you a mess of cucumbers?  Make refrigerator pickles!  We sliced, salted, chilled, mixed, vinegared, sugared, and spiced until we had 4 pints of sweet pickles.  Don't want to fool with a water bath so we'll just keep them in the fridge.  Put some sweet onion and banana peppers in with them so they taste extra good.
