Hi, I’m John Call and I write most of the content here at www.johncall.com. I have been writing the Novice Nibblings column for Carving Magazine for a few years now. I started this website to help woodcarvers improve their understanding of carving and, hopefully, enjoy carving more and more.
My wife and I also enjoy other pursuits and have become involved in raising some of our own food. We have laying hens for eggs, blueberries, strawberries, vegetables and honey (beekeeping). My wife also grinds wheat and makes our bread. I will be writing about all of these as well.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not an expert in any of these areas but I think most people who are interested in one or more of these activities will be able to learn something here. We study and plan a lot before we make any decisions and then try our best to learn from our successes and our mistakes. While I never expect to win a Pulitzer Prize I think I can explain things pretty well and even throw in a little bit of humor every now and then.
I’m glad you dropped by and hope there is something here for you. Drop me a line at john@johncall.com with any questions or recommendations. Thanks!
